Nursing the Soul: My Journey to Holistic Healing

My journey with medicine started with health challenges in childhood which continued to worsen into adulthood. Doctors were treating the symptoms but couldn't find the source of my illnesses. As a teenager, I had a profound experience during surgery that inspired me to pursue a nursing profession and be the best nurse I could be. Part of that journey was exploring holistic avenues of healing and becoming a strong advocate for my own health and well-being and my patients.  As a result of my determination and exploration,  my health issues have been resolved.

I went to Baylor University and in 1988 received my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  Upon graduating I was accepted into a prestigious 6-month ICU internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas which prepared me to work the next 27 years in trauma, cardiac, medical, neuro, and burn ICU. In 1996 I was chosen to be trained at UCLA as the first liver transplant nurse at UCI Medical Center. During those years I traveled to India, Africa, and South America where I studied natural healing modalities with indigenous tribes. I then traveled to Peru, studied holistic midwifery, and became a birth doula. At the same time, I also received a certificate in homeopathy. In addition, I have earned a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate and practice yoga regularly. In 2015 I became head recovery nurse in an ambulatory surgery center. It was there that doctors recognized my ability to catch problems before they became emergencies.  After being urged by many of my patients, I was inspired to follow my passion for creating a private practice that includes individualized holistic post-surgical care and medical management.

My extensive background has prepared me to give you superior care so as to expedite your overall healing and well-being.  Because of my own personal journey, I have discovered that each person has a unique healing path, and with compassion and curiosity, we can work together to find optimal health for your mind, body, and soul.  It is my greatest pleasure to be of service to others to be able to assist others in experiencing ease and vitality in their lives.
